Writing your book is a huge achievement. But getting it published and into the hands of readers can feel like a maze. That’s where we come in. Whether you want to publish an eBook, a paperback, or a hardback, we offer both guidance and hands-on support – helping you choose the best route for your goals, your budget, and your audience.

Printing

There are many ways to get your book printed. We can help you find the right one. Here are the main options:

Option 1

Print-on-Demand with Ingram Spark

IngramSpark is a global print-on-demand service that makes your book available to thousands of online and high-street retailers. You upload your files once, and books are printed and shipped automatically when someone orders – no upfront stock needed.

  • Global distribution to bookshops and libraries
  • Print options for paperback, hardback, and colour
  • Ideal for long-term availability and professional reach
Option 2

Print-On-Demand
Elseswhere

You can also print on demand and distribute with companies such as Amazon, BookVault, and other smaller companies. These services are often simpler and faster to use. BookVault also integrates well with Shopify and UK-based fulfilment options.

  • Ideal for author websites and smaller launches
  • Competitive UK printing and shipping costs
  • Great for keeping control of pricing and stock
Option 3

Print Runs with Clays
or other Offset Printers

If you’re planning a book launch, event, or want higher print quality at lower per-unit cost, you might prefer a traditional print run. We can help you get quotes and manage production with UK printers like Clays.

  • Best quality, especially for illustrated or high-end books
  • Bulk printing (from 250 to several thousand copies)
  • Excellent value for authors expecting higher sales

Distribution

How Does it Work? Getting your book printed is one thing – getting it into shops and libraries is another.

Option 1

IngramSpark Distribution

When you publish via IngramSpark, your book becomes available through the Ingram catalogue which is used by Waterstones, Blackwell’s, Foyles, independent bookshops, and libraries worldwide. However, being listed is not the same as being stocked – you’ll still need to market your book.

  • Global availability
  • Option to offer trade discounts to retailers
  • Can be combined with Amazon KDP (Ebooks) for maximum reach
  • The print-on-demand model means that your title won’t go out of print. Your book can stay in longterm distribution, indefinitely.
Option 2

Clays & Gardners Distribution

If you print with Clays and want to sell through UK bookshops, your next step is distribution via Gardners (a major UK wholesaler). We can help you set up your ISBN, manage distribution, and liaise with the printer and wholesaler on your behalf.

  • UK retail supply chain (Waterstones, WHSmith, libraries)
  • Ideal for authors who want shop presence or festival sales
  • Requires good metadata, pricing strategy, and planning

Publishing Essentials

The small-but-mighty essentials that make your book findable online, and by readers, libraries and bookshops.

1

ISBN & Nielsen Title Registration

We’ll help you buy your ISBNs (or provide them via our imprint) and ensure your book is listed correctly with Nielsen – the UK’s book data registry. This listing is what booksellers and libraries use to find your book.

2

Metadata
& Categories

We create strong, accurate metadata to help your book appear in the right places – on Amazon, Ingram, Kobo, and more. This includes BISAC and THEMA categories, keywords, blurbs, and your author bio.

3

Legal
Deposit

All UK publishers are required to send a copy of every book they publish to the British Library, and to the 5 other deposit libraries in the UK. We can help make sure your book is deposited properly.

4

Public Lending Rights (PLR)

If your book is stocked in libraries, you may be entitled to small royalty payments each time it’s borrowed. We’ll help you register for the UK’s PLR scheme so you don’t miss out.
